Evolyn ("we", "us", or "our") operates the Evolyn mobile application. We are committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring that your personal information is handled safely and responsibly, in full compliance with the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and applicable provincial privacy legislation in Canada.

1. Accountability and Consent

We are responsible for the personal information under our control. By using Evolyn, you consent to the collection, use, and disclosure of your personal information as described in this policy. You may withdraw your consent at any time, subject to legal or contractual restrictions and reasonable notice.

2. Identifying Purposes

We collect personal information to provide and improve the Evolyn experience, including:

  • Creating and managing your user account and profile.
  • Facilitating "microadventures" and tracking your challenge progress.
  • Connecting you with the Evolyn community for shared adventures.
  • Ensuring trust and safety among users based on our "Requirements Simplified" framework.

3. Location Data and Live Tracking

Because Evolyn involves physical movement and real-world exploration, we process your GPS location data while the app is in use for location-based features and safety (such as live tracking). If you utilize safety contact features, your live location may be shared securely with your designated contacts. To protect your privacy, temporary live-tracking location data is automatically deleted from our servers after a maximum of 28 days.

4. Limiting Collection, Use, and Disclosure

We limit the collection of personal information to what is strictly necessary for the purposes identified. We will not use or disclose your personal information for purposes other than those for which it was collected, except with your explicit consent or as required by Canadian law.

5. Safeguards and Accuracy

We implement robust security safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity of the information to protect it against loss, theft, unauthorized access, disclosure, copying, use, or modification. We also make reasonable efforts to ensure your information is accurate, complete, and up-to-date.

6. Individual Access and Openness

Upon request, you will be informed of the existence, use, and disclosure of your personal information and will be given access to that information. You have the right to challenge the accuracy and completeness of the information and have it amended as appropriate.
